Party on the Ding Dong

So a Ding dong in Hong Kong is the tram. A tram is a trolly. And that would be double decker stlye trolly, oh yeah. I went to a birthday party on the tram tonight with some of my co-workers. It's called a party on the ding dong. And believe me we were a bunch of ding dongs. We hired the tram for 2 hours to go all around Hong Kong island. Gangsta party clothes were the recommended garb. Well imagine a double decker tram filled with ganstas yelling out the windows at all the people. It was super fun; the kind of thing I would normally like to do, but people would just think I was immature and stupid. I wasn't quite sure what gansta style clothes were. I was thinking Chicago gansters. But I ended up going with a Russian Maffia style...tight jeggings, blingy high heels, tight black corset top, bumble bee sunglasses, and my lovely purple fur jacket. We weren't the only ones dressed up this weekend. This weekend is the big rugby 7 tournaments in HK and people are dressed crazy on the streets and running around like goofballs. So gangsters on the tram fit right in with the city background. After the tram ride we went to a German restaurant. The restaurant all gave us free wigs to wear. I got an Italian clown wig. Hong Kong is so fun and amazing.

Radiation Fallout

Just the news you want to hear in the middle of a school day. Radiation fallout could be coming in the wind and rain. What do you do? Well I'm trying not to panick. I finally emailed the US Consulate to ask some questions and see how do I register myself as an expat here for emergency situations. Right now it is just waiting to see what will happen. My school did tell us to watch the news to see if schools will be closed. I am considering trying to get some KI. I guess the radiation first effects your thyroid and taking a special type of iodine can help protect your thyroid. Anyways this is all too crazy for me to even really understand. Poor Japan is all I can say. I can't even imagine the trauma they are going through.

Passing Gas and Words of Endearment

One of my students called me mommy today. That was the first time that has happened. It was sweet, but kindof weird too. It was an accident. Also when you get 22 bodies into a 800 square feet area you are going to have stinkiness. Often I am a culprit of the silent but deadly and feel bad for the students I pass by, especially when I see students cover their nose. Well today the stinkiness came undone and I confessed to the students that it was I who was passing gas so they would not blame another student.

Dancing Through the Decades

So tonight I went to a dance birthday party at my church. My church is a small church in Hong Kong. The theme was Dancing through the Decades for someone's 50th birthday. When I walked into the YWCA where our church meets, everyone was so dressed up in all kinds of styles from various decades. It was a neat birthday. I'm very grateful for the family feel of my church. The pastor dressed up like Elvis and sang the birthday girl a special song. Earlier in the day I met with a violinist I had met earlier in the week. She is an Aussie and a music teacher at Discovery Bay. We played some duets and decided we are going to prepare for a low key salon music performance for friends at the Culture Center in May. She's really into Irish/Scottish fiddle. Excited to find another violinist I can play with and possible we will put a string quartet together as well.

French Swissers

So one of my very good friends here in HK is the consular for the Swiss Embassy. Anyways he's a way cool dude and he's always inviting me to go out to some posh places and fun venues. So tonight he invited me to go hear some Swiss French Bands...well it was all French bands from Switzerland, Belgium, France and Canada. Seems like since I've moved to HK I've had more run ins with Frenchies. Anyways the music was great. I liked the last band from Canada. Yeah go North America.:) Anyways my really good friend at school is the French teacher and she had me go to a French play several months ago. So it seems maybe I should learn French while I'm here in HK. Hahahah or I could learn Italiano. Or German...not. Probably German would be the last language I would choose to learn.

Thoughts on Forms of Poo Poo

Ok so what do you do when a student emails you and calls you poo poo? Well today a little 6 year old decided to email me some poo poo. Talking to the Kindergarten teacher we had a good laugh. But I must admit it was upsetting. I had to write him up and call his mom. Working with kids is a constant reminder of how much poo poo is in all of us. This year I have seen several kids poop their pants. Never happened before when I was teaching in previous years. Thankfully it hasn't happened yet in my classroom. Let's hope it never does.

Should I continue...Really???

So why has it been 4 months.....many reasons, but none to share that are serious. I think there comes a point in every bloggers life when you are like what in the world am I doing. Why am I putting all this crap up? Why am I sharing all this stuff? So what's the point anyways? Maybe it is time to cross that bridge of self indulgence in letting my life be my life and start sharing again. I will contemplate upon this matter. You might not get as many pictures. My life has changed much much much. I no longer dance...I no longer take pictures...but it is just a season. Just like this was a season of no blogging. It will all come back...No matter how much has been stolen it will come back.:) And as Arnold once said, "I'll be back."
