I started this blog for when I was teaching in China. Then I moved to Hong Kong and taught second grade for five years. After seven years in Asia, it was time for me to return to my country. These are my adventures of living, working and repatriating myself.

Free Range Animals
In rural China I saw a lot of free range animals. Ducks, chickens, goats. I saw my first animal be killed, too. It was a duck or goose. I was really surprised how the animal was killed, because I thought they would chop its head off, but no. They let it bleed to death. It was quite shocking to me. I kept staring at the animal as it slowly died. The family that was going to eat it kept looking at me. Very interesting experience.

They probably knew it would be different for you. It is quite shocking to see animals being killed when we come from the US. I saw animals being slaughtered in Morroco and Egypt and I'll never get used to it. Think of it this way---these countries can't afford growth hormones and crappy food that goes into our meat in America. Its free range/organic and a lot healtheir than what you'd get back home.
